Fairmont Banff Springs Wedding Video- Matthew + Lucy-Vancouver Wedding Videographer
Matthew and Lucy were married at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta. A venue that feels less like a hotel and more like a castle set against the Rocky Mountains.
Snow had fallen the day before, elk could be heard in the distance, the air was cold and sharp, with that unmistakable Rocky Mountain wind moving through the valley. The entire day felt romantic and cinematic before it even began.
A Calm Beginning at Fairmont Banff Springs:
They chose to get ready together in their suite at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, something we don’t see often, but always appreciate. The energy in the room was quiet, unrushed and intentional.
They built space into their timeline to breathe, to be present, and it set the tone of the entire day.
Before the ceremony, they shared an intimate tea ceremony with their parents in the room next door. A few beautiful words were spoken. It felt grounding, like a pause before everything expanded outward.
A Mountain Ceremony Overlooking the Bow River:
Guests began arriving at the stunning outdoor ceremony space overlooking the Bow River and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Warm beverage stations were set out to combat the winter air, and honestly.. it may have been some of the best dressed group of wedding guests we’ve seen.
Lucy’s entrance cut through soft artificial fog, revealing her silhouette before she fully stepped into view. Matthew’s reaction said everything. He fought back tears as she reached him.
Their vows were deeply poetic. A close friend officiated and read additional poems that added even more texture to the ceremony. It felt poetic without feeling forced.
Candlelit Reception at Fairmont Banff Springs:
After cocktail hour, guests moved into one of the most breathtaking reception spaces at the Fairmont Banff Springs.
The architecture alone is remarkable, but the decor elevated it even further.
Hundreds (if not a thousand) candles filled the room. The glow softened the stone and brought warmth into the historic space. It fit the setting perfectly.
Matthew and Lucy carried a medieval sword throughout the day, which they later used to cut their cake. Lucy is an avid cosplayer, and incorporating that element into the day felt so authentic to who they are.
The night ended with a packed dance floor and a live band that absolutely delivered. Those final hours are some of our favourite to film, movement, energy, and no one holding back.
Filming a Banff Wedding at Fairmont Banff Springs:
As Vancouver wedding videographers, we’re fortunate to work at incredible venues throughout British Columbia. But filming a Banff wedding at Fairmont Banff Springs always feels special.
The scale of the mountains. The historic architecture. The unpredictable winter atmosphere. It creates a cinematic backdrop that doesn’t need embellishment.
Matthew and Lucy’s wedding felt epic, but grounded. Grand, but personal.
And that balance is what makes a wedding film last.
